This is a national disgrace. No beach should be privatised. Stop selling Jamaica to foreign tourists. Use tourism to help the country, not destroy it.

The Jamaican Govt. should be ashamed of themselves for allowing the public beaches of JAMAICA to be gobbled up and severely restrict the public from using what should be a national resource. Why should indigenous people be always marginalized in the name of rich people who would relegate us to status of servants?

The government should take steps to ensure that our parks, waterfronts and historical sites be deemed national treasures for this and future generations. Do not give these up to developers for commercial gains. This is our and the future generations heritage.

The point of preserving is for the future generation to enjoy the pleasures of what we enjoy now. If the children of Jamaica can't even enjoy their homeland because some tourist is hogging their beaches, how can the world be so unfair. The Jamaican people should have a say, not the Hotel corporations, there is a point in the word 'sharing', 'freedom', and 'culture'. If it were me, I would rather go to a beach with locals, to learn of the country and enjoy the true culture, with their people. Not some person from upscale New York or California. A Jamaican, a person who gets to love their life and land, not a Jamaican who has to deal with the struggles of getting their pleasures of life torn away. A true tourist would understand this. A true tourist would want Jamaicans to have their free beach for their families and generations to come.
