this is not fair to these little elementary school kids for this early start time. kids with working parent will not be home until 5 and then they will no time to play or do their homework. Also in MN brutal winter I think small kids start time should be late start all elementary school should start at 9am. I agree that high school kids needs more sleep but these small kids need them too.

Do anything but change the start time for elementary schools. If we have the best school district in the nation, you must be able to figure out a way to make this a win win for all parties.

There's overwhelming data that early start times and chronic lack of sleep in elementary students has negative academic, mental and physical outcomes.

We should consider what's best for the children instead of just taking the easy way out to 'solve' a problem. Start times that early would be ridiculous.

I don't believe any child should have to start school this early!

This is truly unacceptable and the super intendant should just be fired for proposing such an unfair and unresponsible option. If this isn't changing, I propose to get the media come one morning this winter and film all those young kids in the cold and the dark - some of them are going to Kindergarten and are not even 5... -. We have the record the fastest lunch and now we are going to have the record of the earliest pick up ... If there is an issue at the Highschool, fix it there and don't create a burden in a other place ...

My son (kindergarten) has never been a natural early riser. Early start times would negatively impact our family. He has early start friends at other Wayzata schools that are exhausted when they arrive home early, need child care and are too tired to enjoy the evening at home. On the flip side, high school would end so late that sports, work and needed family and friend time would be drastically cut short. I also believe that practices would be changed to before school for several sports, completely eliminating any positive benefits of moving to a later high school start time. Please do not change young learners to early start. Thank you! Janet Meade

Starting elementary schools at 7:20 will NOT work! Our youngest students need sleep. Their health and education cannot be jeopardized.

I appreciate the information provided by Dr. Ryan Wilson in regard to this important subject of child sleep patterns and school start times. In light of this information, I urge the district to investigate the cost of adding additional bussing, in order to accommodate more reasonable start times for all Wayzata public schools. Thank you.

I'm not sure if you have to live in this district to sign this petition but it is ridiculous to make little kids have to get up so early to go to school just because some high schoolers can't get up in the morning...and most of them are not up studying. They are on their phones or watching TV. I know this because I had five teenagers that went to high school.

I am in favor of an earlier start for elementary but not at the time currently proposed. A mix of start time change and additional busing should be added to the proposals.

Our kids need to sleep AS WELL to be performant! This doesn t make any sense to destroy the health of the yougest in favor of the oldest! Please reconsider your idea.

Our kids need to sleep to be performant! Same logic as for high school students! This doesn t make any sense. Please think clear, and abort this proposition.
