Wax Trax! Records is known globally as a critical part of music history. Chicago must designate the storefront as historically significant to preserve its place in our cultural heritage!

Chicago is a city that honours its musical traditions, and the original Wax Trax storefront is part of that impressive cultural heritage. It deserves a plaque and protection for posterity. I hold many fond memories of dropping by the store as a high school student, when the scene surrounding it pretty much defined cool. Greetings from Berlin – here's hoping I can see that plaque the next time I'm back in Chicago!

When I lived in Chicago in the late 70’s and through the 1980’s Wax Trax was my home away from home. I got two MFA’s during this era of my life. One was at The School of the Art Institute, the other at Wax Trax!

Jim, Danny, Tom, Gene and I were roommates thru the 70's. I first met them at 1118 Marion, in Denver. We lived in the same building. I helped open the original Wax Trax on Ogden. Then it moved to a bigger place on 13th. They were a large part of my life. Miss them both. Would love be to hear from Tom.

Wax Trax help build the foundation for Chicago’s underground music scene, if that’s not grounds for landmark status I don’t know what is.
