I moved to Chicago in late ā86. I went every Friday, early evening, to check out what was new, and spend some of my paycheck. I discovered many new bands, saw some shows based on my purchases, and chatted with everybody. Totally miss it.

I regularly shopped at Wax Trax in the 80's and have some amazing memories of those times. Finding new artists and making lifelong friends.

I spent much time at Wax Trax exploring the bins and discovering the artists / music that shaped my life. It is part of Chicago's music history and absolutely should be recognized.
This building is a reminder of how Chicago became the heart of a genre that is still very much alive across the globe today. It has influenced so many people and ignited an underground culture. We celebrate it at DJ events all over the city, even during shut down virtual dj sets were full of people connecting to this music. I am proud to say Iām from Chicago, and I make industrial music. :waves Chicago flag:

The Damen store is where I spent my days but without the Lincoln avenue store I don't get time in the Damen store. I loved going to Wax Trax. I got to meet Mr. Flesher once at the Blind Pig in Urbana. I thanked him for creating something that accepted me when I was a teenager. God bless Mr. Nash and Mr. Flesher.
