I discovered Wax Trax! when I moved to Chicago in December 1983. What an awesome store.

Wax Trax! was a huge influence on me. I used to go down there in the 80s from the suburbs. Later I learned about many bands because they were on their label. This is a part of music history no less than Chess Records was in its era.

We drove into the city almost every weekend to spend time at Wax Trax, Metro and Smart Bar. We had no idea at the time how iconic all three would be! Great memories!

Aside from being an important Chicago cultural beacon for decades, this building is also aesthetically beautiful and efforts should be made to make it a historic landmark.

Wax Trax was the first record store I ever visited! The community is amazing and deserves this historic recognition.
