Places like this have massive influence in the history of music in the US. When you walk into a place like this you can feel the weight of all the musical giants that started their careers in small places like this. Every time you lose a place like this or CBGB's, you take away a piece of tangible history.

I was more of a metal guy at the time, but in college in the late 80s I had friends who introduced me to bands like Fear, Skinny Puppy and Ministry. Never made it to Wax Trax! but I appreciate its influence and importance. Also, I love classic architecture, and it’s a beautiful building. That “they don’t build them like that anymore “ places need to be protected.

I am a die hard Nine Inch Nails fan and they would not have been as successful without Wax Trax!! Records. Trent Reznor was a member of the group 1000 Homo DJ's who were signed to Wax Trax!!. Other fantastic bands like Ministry, KMFDM, Front 242, and even Marilyn Manson have connections to Wax Trax!!. I have never been to the store location but the next time I am in Chicago or visiting family in Milwaukee it would be awesome to visit such an iconic musical historical location.

Never got to Chicago when the store was up and running, but some of the bands they supported changed my musical world and was instrumental to my misspent youth in the 1980's!

The bands from WaxTrax! helped shape my love for music and who I am as a person. Most of those bands were not readily available. Fortunately WaxTrax! had mail order, so I was able to get the music I craved. So many amazing artists got their start with WaxTrax!, back when other stores/labels wouldn’t give them a chance. Please make this location a landmark to preserve it for future generations! Thank you!
