The WAX TRAX! record label created a community that I felt a part of throughout the 1990s even though I lived nowhere near Chicago. The reach and influence of WAX TRAX! was special and profound.

I love, love, loved this record shop in the '80s and early '90s! Bought so many records and CDs here (both Wax Trax! artists and others) and dug the funky, punky boutique upstairs. Once they moved from this Lincoln Ave. location the vibe was no longer there. This building, the beautiful loonies inside and all of the music within was true magic. For me, at least, Chicago was never really the same after Wax Trax! moved from here. To this day I still wax nostalgically at this building whenever I stop in for a pint or two at the Red Lion Pub across the street.
