I started an industrial band in Pittsburgh, in 1998, inspired by Wax Trax! bands. And then we moved to Chicago in 2002 because it seemed like the only place where the scene was still hanging on (and at least you could always see KMFDM or TKK when they toured).

I worked for Jim and Dannie for five years at the beginning of the Lincoln Avenue store and label. Wax Trax became THE destination for where to find new music in Chicago.

Despite living between Illinois and Indiana, and visiting family in an around Chicago, when I first discovered Wax Trax! in the 1980s, I never made the Hajj to this music Mecca. I definitely want to see the site preserved.

WaxTrax! is 1000% a Chicago Landmark - no question. They have meant as much to the local, national, & international music & arts scene as any other label in the world. The influence this Record Store & Label has made on the world is immeasurable and simply profound. Being a Chicago native for 35 years- it is honestly 1 of the things I am most proud of that came out of America’s greatest city!
