Long live Wax Trax. Chicago is home to so many musical genres. Blues, House, and Industrial. And Wax Trax was the record label and store to be at. Save this part of Chicago music history.

The WAX TRAX! music of my youth is still precious to me and countless others decades later. It is a unique and important artistic legacy with global reach. Please do WAX TRAX! the honor of recognizing their contributions, and declare their original storefront to be a historic Chicago landmark. Whenever I make it to Chicago, it will be the first place I visit.

Wax Trax is an institution and deserves recognition as such. In the early 90’s my art student friends and I, so into the alternative and underground music scenes came here regularly to shop, see and be seen (ok, we were somewhat posers, but our hearts were in it). Oh the many bootleg Joy Division and New Order cassettes I bought then and eventually wore out or broke. Wax Trax brought industrial dance music into our lives and the local clubs. It was such a powerful, sexy scene - a legacy in Chicago (and beyond) alternative art, music and culture.

WaxTrax! is a Chicago institution and was highly influential in shaping the culture of the music industry not only in Chicago, but also in the Midwest and, arguably, everywhere in the '80s and '90s.

Wax Trax helped influence the music scene beyond Chicago. Featured in films, influenced movies from John Hughes. It is an institution!

As a former Chicago-area resident, this location was a seminal part of my youth, and helped to forge not only the culture of Chicago, but also changed the face of music nationally.

Living across the border in IN, this was ALWAYS a destination when we would go to Chicago.
