Wax Trax! was immensely influential in my favorite genre of music. When they started hosting industrial nights at gay clubs this echoed and other DJs managed to get industrial nights into gay clubs giving a music scene a physical place to congregate. Being an ally and a supporter of inclusion for the gay community has been important to me since I was young because my local gay community was an ally to me first, giving me a place to enjoy industrial music with like-minded people. Wax Trax! pioneered this symbiosis and means a lot to people far beyond Chicago.

Man,... I miss that place. Such a hug cultural influence for so many people - including myself. A never-ending treasure trove of unique music & art that is very much a key chapter in the history of Chicago.

Wax Trax means something different to everyone, but there is no doubt they helped shape music and people’s lives. I found a lot of bands through watching the black box videos as well as just sitting and listening to cd after cd with friends who are sadly no longer here. To me the label changed my life and lead me to be more creative in this world. This landmark IS historic, not just to me but look at all the bands that were inspired by what they were putting out! From None inch nails to Rob Zombie, if not for Wax Trax they surely would not exist.

I used to watch the old wax trax promotional tapes over at a friend's house over 20 years ago and I found some of my favorite bands through those tapes, of it wasn't for wax trax I wouldn't be into the bands I am, I'm forever grateful to my friend (who is not longer with us) but Wax Trax as well for providing me with 2 decades of fun times.
