Waungron Road former Recycling Centre

The proposed housing development would be so out of keeping with the area. It should be something this is aesthetically pleasing and benefits the wider community.

Total madness to have this development in this area. Congestion is bad enough as it is. Along with more people trying to get amenities, Doctors & Dentists. A huge new estate around the corner on the old mill and the new developments in Pentrebane and Radyr I object to building more properties.

I am apposed to this development based on it location not being able to cope with the increased number of cars, buses and people it will generate in an already busy road system. Schools are already at capacity and an increase in train frequency, if proposed, would impact on noise and privacy for residents. Parking on Fairwater Groves is already difficult without overflow from a development that has no parking facilities for 50 properties. The idea that they won’t have cars is completely unrealistic.

Road congestion will be a nightmare.

Fairwater is backed up to the hilt with morning traffic in Kemal times already ! We don’t need this build on the corner of a busy junction It will be hell getting out of Fairwater It’s practically locked in now without this ! Whose hairbrained idea was this ??

Another case of Cardiff council doing whats good for the property developers and not the community.The recycling centre you closed is much missed and still badly needed,but they dont care as theres a property developer with a big fat envelope full of cash wants to build flats.Guess who wins?

I dont understand why this cant just be turned back into a recyling centre? With the expansion of Plasdwr and other new housing developments in close proximity to Fairwater, means people have to travel further to Bessemer Road leading to more queues at this centre. I heard the centre on Wedal Road was proposed to be closed, which would further exacerbate the queues in Bessemer Road. Reopening Waungron as a recycling centre would in turn reduce air pollution this side of Cardiff and help the local residents massively.

Madness, it's such a small and congested area for a development of that size

This is a poorly thought out idea. This development will disrupt the privacy of those living around the area, as the high rise building will overlook into people’s gardens. Furthermore, the traffic will be impacted when it’s already a nightmare around this area during rush hour. Additionally, can the water infrastructure in that area cope with a block of flats? We tend to get floods under waungron bridge during bad weather and surely this would add additional pressure to the system. I would be suprised if people would even want to live in these flats due to the noise pollution from passing cars and the close proximity to the train line. I urge the council to rethink this decision and be mindful of the residents living in the area and the impact this would have on them, as opposed to rushing through this decision for financial gain of the council. Surely a collection of shipping containers with small businesses being run from this site would be more of interest to local residents? Or an eco friendly no waste market. Let’s think outside the box. This would probably be of interest to small business owners looking to rebuild their business following the impact of covid too.

I object to this proposal. I feel this would heavily impact traffic, the drainage and sewage structure and also general space in the area.

This junction is busy at the best of times, not only will there be disruption when being built the added traffic and parking afterwards will bring this area to a standstill - I completely oppose this development

This will cause chaos on a number of levels. If you really think people living there will not have cars or visitors then you really need to rethink this proposal. Parking and traffic is bad enough in this area and these plans will add to parking problems, traffic chaos and air pollution. Along with the possible social issues it may bring to the neighbourhood.

I am totally against this development we were told it would be a bus terminus. This area is already densely populated and the traffick horrendous. There are far more suitable sites in Cardiff to build these flats
