I was born and raised in Peekskill and I believe that the safety of the community should be the number one priority. There are many other places for relocation. By no means do I feel the homeless should be neglected but public safety should be the councils first priorty. Although I no longer live in Peekskill, i still have a lot of love for my hometown.

There are many options for the homeless including a building behind beach shopping center which will be vacant soon due to the fire truck relocating

Keep it where it is now. I helped feed the homeless there with my son and not more than 20 minutes there the homeless were fighting ,cursing and the police were called. Tried to do something nice but will no longer be doing that in order to keep myself and son safe.

I believe the shelter should be located away from our residential neighborhood.

This is not right for our location. There are already too many homeless individuals standing off the exits at the bottom of Welcher and begging for our money, food, and “spare change”. We work for what we have and deserve to keep it to ourselves. That includes our community and neighborhood. The possibility of a shelter this close to our beautiful county park is mind boggling. It’s either fine where it is or it can leave Peekskill all together!
