Snowmobiles tear up the surface of the bike path when snow cover becomes insufficient. Resurfacing costs are PROHIBITIVE! Allow snowmobile use on one section of the bike path and they will want access to the whole length. In winter, speeding snowmobiles would make cross country skiers and snowshoers distinctly uneasy if they're sharing the bike path with them.
