Outdoor Leadership Faculty. I commit to the personal work I need to do and to lean into/lend my voice to - helping create the departmental and institutional changes demanded.

Biology faculty. I support these demands, the goals behind them, and the desire for real and meaningful change that motivates them. For as long as I have been at the college I have been uncomfortable with the status of Black students and other students of color. As a white faculty member I can do better. The college can do better. I commit to making my classes more supportive and better experiences for non-white students. I recognize that this will be personally awkward and uncomfortable for me. I am going to rely on the help of my students, my colleagues, and the people behind this petition to hold me accountable and provide the motivation for making this necessary transformation. Thank you for showing the way.

I am grateful to BSU for your leadership in pushing our institution to ensure the safety of our Black community members. As a faculty member in Biology and Environmental Studies and Chair of the latter, I commit to doing the personal work and contributing to the institutional work needed to achieve these demands.

Thank you, WWC BSU! We are so lucky to have you growing and pushing a vision that former students called for long ago, and future students will carry beyond. You are part of the lasting legacy! We could not do this without your emotional and literal labor. Thank you thank you thank you for pushing on. For taking the time to create clear, necessary demands that reflect reality. For bearing the weight so that future students of color can prosper. It does not stop here.

I stand in solidarity with you as a biology professor and & department chair. I would like to help in any way I can. As a program, Biology must re-examine and revise our curriculum and our pedagogy to address racism and social justice issues that permeate the history and practice of science.
