My grandfather served in the first world war and his name appears on this memorial. It would be an insult to him and all his fellow soldiers who fought for their country, if this memorial was destroyed.

It shows not only a lack of respect for those that fought for our today, but also a lack of respect for our predessors in the community that paid for this memorial. They would never have imagined that it wouldn't be preserved forever in a building that was(is) a keystone for ths town. It must be preserved for the future. It is as an important part of the towns history as the old school, would be allow that to be 'sacrificed' to progress? No, and this memorial is the same.

These people gave their lives for us in a way no-one can comprehend. The powers that be should be utterly ashamed of themselves. They are a disgrace! May they see sense and show compassion and respect for those that fought for our Country and gave their lives for us.
