My wife and I live 2 miles below where the Pend Orielle River flows into the Columbia. We have been given assurances that every thing will be fine for over 100 years from the smelter upstream of us. We understand how it works... you tell us lies, you dump in the river and then you tell us everything will be mitigated. The lies are old, reality is harsh and we have an environment to protect and you just won't do it. Go find a place that doesn't care about the quality of life and a pristine environment and leave ours just the way it is!

I am sickened by the prospect of this Canadian heavy polluter near our homes and wild lands. It is an unethical and distructive proposition! Our way of life matters, our children matter, our lands matter, our air and watersheds matter. Our lives should not be bargained for the convenience of any company, let alone a foreign one! Take your heavy polluter to Canada - NOT HERE NOT EVER!!!

The smelter must be stopped. It provides no benefit to the area and will have many harmful effects on residents, tourism, the environment and quality of life.

Go back to Canada. We don't want your pollution, we don't want higher electric bills because you cut a deal with WA. State and PUD to get .03 per kilowatt hour while residents pay more to subsidize your company. Take your crap and go home.

The schools, athletic fields, gardens etc. in proximity to this proposed site is not acceptable. This area has air inversion issues as it is without adding toxic pollutants to it.
