"There are now more wolves than there are Kalispel Indians, let's give them a little protection. It's ok to let a few live. They live on less land than a pack of wolves, yet you want to poison them, too. Go ahead and poison the 1600 white kids, there are lots of them!" (SARCASM MATTERS)

I don't get how you can do this. the evidence of how terrible this is in front of your faces!! it would not only be terrible for the people, animals and plants, it would be terrible for global warming and our planet as well.

It is clear this smelter is a bad idea for our communities and states. PacWest Silicon needs to go to Canada to do their dirty work. We do not need 100 jobs that will destroy our environment and hurt our communities and states. Money isn't always what's important, and who can really afford solar panels anyway? Please do not allow this to continue to unfold to active smelter status.

While I understand we have grown dependent on silicon, I find it unconscionable to locate a silicon smelter so close to a municipality, actually 2 municipalities. I live in Spokane, and expect my air quality could also be affected depending on the way the winds blow. I think that such a smelter should not be accepted until technology has figured out a way to prevent the release of all the noxious gases and materials that currently are produced by such plants. We've allowed far too many industries to proceed before we knew how to manage their wastes. The result is ongoing contamination of our air, water, and soil; decrease in our quality of life and increase in cases of cancer and other illnesses.

Locating this smelter in the Newport area is not in the best interests of Eastern Washington or Northern Idaho residents.

Jobs and economic injection, but at what cost? Another short-sighted plundering of the Earth's precious, finite resources in the interest of short term gains. The ramifications beyond five or ten years out are too drastic to sweep under the rug.

We moved to this area for it beauty, clean air, good water, and overall healthly environment in a world where there area fewer and fewer populated areas that have that. The smelter should move to some other area that has already been contaminated.

Why pollute a beautiful area like ours. Take it where there’s other similar industries, not our pristine lands.

It defies the comprehensive plan for this county, it will pollute our air, our bodies, our habitat, our animals, our forestes, our future generations, our community. Go elsewhere to build this ugly monster.
