I am adamantly against this smelter. It is the last thing that we need up here in Pend Oreille County. Absolutely ridiculous to have a smelter that close to a community and a down town.

On October 24, 2018, I submitted a possible alternative project to the Department of Ecology. The title, SUSTAINABLE ECOLOGY COMMUNITY PROJECT, INCLUDED A REQUEST FOR ALL PROJECTS TO BE PLACED ON A BALLOT FOR RESIDENTS TO VOTE WITHIN A 200 MILE RADIUS OF NEWPORT, WA. It is going to be a difficult task and anybody that wants to review the alternative project, contact me for a copy at [email protected]

Stop the smelter! It will ruin everything we love about north Idaho and northwest Washington.

This public land sold without public okay will be used by a Canadian company who was unable to get any okay from Canada. The proposed use for this site will contaminate the environment via air and water. It will cause noise and light pollution as well. NO! NO! NO!

As an organic farmer and business owner I do not want this in the vicinity of my family or my farm.

I've lived in Newport for 16 years, andvi don't like having to make a choice between moving, or enduring crappy air if this gets built, its already horrible air quality in the summer with all the smoke, why make it worse? And the reason a lot of people moved it here is FOR THE ENVIRONMENT and yet you just wanna ruin that for everyone...

It's the duty of our elected officials to protect the voters they represent from industries and pollution that causes terrible health risks. Quit trading our lives so you can make an extra buck

The area is so beautiful and untainted by heavy pollution, this company will destroy all of that.

It is clear this smelter is a bad idea for our communities and states. PacWest Silicon needs to go to Canada to do their dirty work. We do not need 100 jobs that will destroy our environment and hurt our communities and states. Money isn't always what's important, and who can really afford solar panels anyway? Please do not allow this to continue to unfold to active smelter status.
