I agree that these exams are weighted too high and the fact that you don’t even get to see what you missed and what you need to approve on is asinine in order to prepare for the licensure test I feel it is critical to know where your weaknesses are and I have also found on these exams that there could be multiple answers I’m not talking about choosing the best answer. I’m talking about there literally could be multiple answers to one question. I just took a midterm for 6665 and I’ve never taken a test where the questions were repeated so many times I feel at least a fourth of the test had repeat questions!

I’ve gone through the program and yes doing poorly on the exams hurts the grade. There is absolutely no narrowing down or study focus such as power points or lectures. All completely self taught. The test are nothing like the boards.

Walden does nothing to help students prepare. Reading hundreds of pages of each week is not an education. A decision tree here and there is not an education. Weighting so heavily an exam that has not even been lectured on is unfair at best. These poor exam scores are a direct reflection of the lack of preparation from the program and individual "online facilitators" as they are certainly not teachers nor instructors and certainly not professors. Walden needs to grade on a curve. And take action in actually preparing and "teaching" content.

If not making weight changes at least make study guides appropriate for the material on the exam. I have yet to have a study guide be beneficial. I carried a 4.0 until I reached exams. The weighted grading significantly dropped my GPA.

The exams truly make taking each course less exciting and decreases motivation to not put forth much effort on doing your best, especially, if you feel you will still fail. Along with teachers who sing every APA mistake made, the weighted score of the exams are very intimidating.

I agree with this. I know we are given study guides, but they are very broad and don't help at all with "studying." I have bombed exams that I studied everything listed on the study guide and still got zero feedback or explanation, and also a 11 point drop in a perfect 100 average. I spend 96% of my time preparing for the assignments and discussions and working tirelessly on those to get wonderful grades, then am thrown two exams that can cause me to fail after all the work I put in. It certainly is not fair. I have never participated in any classes elsewhere that weigh exams this much.
