The proposal by AEA leadership to abolish the 99 seat plan is completely misguided and totally out of touch with the in-the-trenches reality of being a working actor in Los Angeles.

Please help keep art for arts sake alive in LA… I am an Equity actress who understands storefront theatre is vital for new works and for just plain creating without having to worry about subscribers wants… we know we won't make money doing this kind of work… we just want to make art… to create, collaborate, grown, and connect on a deeper level… a much more intimate level.

I have been an Equity Member for many years (#122732). DO NOT get rid of the 99-Waiver Theater in Los Angeles !!! Why is this such an important move by Equity all of the sudden? How is having the 99Seat Plan this hurting anyone? Theaters/Producers are not rolling on mountains of money. If an actor wishes not to do theater under the Plan, FINE, they do not have to partake. But those of us who do, love being able to work. Stop this ridiculous step to rid LA of the 99 Seat Plan.

As a nearly 20 year, proud member of Equity, I implore you to reconsider. Small theatre in LA keeps artists alive, and doing this would ruin would is a growing wonderful piece of American theatre. These small companies are moving towards expansion, but this will cause all of them to close their doors.

You can't get blood from a stone! Hands off Equity - actors need to act - not wait for some overpriced legit theatre to give them a job - To get their high ticket prices they need stars for their plays - leave the 99 seat theatres alone - they don't take money away from anyone and when there is any money coming in - people get paid!!! Equity can't provide work for everyone - Good intentions lousy idea under the circumstances!!!!
