This is a very dangerous and shocking suggestion. A completely different type of theatre is created in smaller, more intimate spaces. Please do NOT continue with the removal of 99 seat plan theatre in LA. This will negatively affect a vast many actors and theatre companies and to suggest otherwise shows a complete lack of awareness of the value of this type of theatre and the massively negative repurchasing it will have on actors and the theatre industry in LA

The result of this proposal will be less AEA members. Not more. I've been a member since 1996. If this proposal goes into effect there will be NO reason to join the union while living in LA. Why would anyone in their right mind join a union that strangles their members opportunities to work? Look at SAG's New Media contract - You think THOSE people are making minimum wage? Absolutely not, but it creates opportunity and a creative outlet for people who CHOOSE to do it. Nobody is MADE to do 99 seat theatre. AEA should be focusing it's energy on developing opportunities for it's membership!

Equity does not have the right to take away actors right to choose or volunteer how or where we want to invest our creative interests. Los Angeles is a very unique and different platform for us. It should be respected and nurtured. This proposal to change our landscape is a bad idea on many levels. Producers are not making money. Quite the contrary. The folks who created this new proposal are out of touch with the needs of actors in Los Angeles. Wake Up LA Actors. They are trying to remove your acting opportunities by eliminating our 99 Seat Theatre Plan and your right to choose to act in theatre. We cannot allow this to happen now or in the future. Stand up! Vote NO!
