I'm a member of Actor's Equity and the proposed plan for LA's small theater scene just isn't viable for actors and the small theaters that this plan targets. I'm totally against the plan.

I've been SAG/AFTRA since 1969, and if I were AEA and this passed, I would leave the organization without regret. Small Theatre is small theatre, and should be respected as such, and nurtured.

I have been a member of SAG/AFTRA for 20 years and have done countless 99 seat waiver shows in Los Angeles over that time. To enact the proposals proposed by this new plan would damage the quality of theatre in LA that our community has worked so hard to develop. The situation for theatre in LA is unique because of its relation to the film industry and the system that has worked and done so much good in NYC will have the opposite effect here because actors aren't in Los Angeles to make a living in the theatre. Wew are here to make a living in TV & Film and to practice our craft and create art. LA theatre CAN NOT make the profits needed to sustain a proposal like the one in consideration and I ask you to please vote it down. Or the majority of professional actors in this town will be forced to do what we did 20 years ago: no theatre.
