I am not a member. I am an actor who loves theatre more than small bits on screen. Theatre in L.A. will die under your plan.

Union member. There won't be any left of this if these changes happen. A travesty.

You made a left at Greedy and drove right into Shittyville. We want to work. Let us work or we'll leave.

AEA actors can choose whether or not to be involved in shows that are paying or no paying just like SAG/AFTRA actors can work on films that are paying or non paying, scale or higher. In LA 99 seat theaters are often the only time we get to perform. Your solution isn't one at all. All you are doing is further limiting our chances and choices of where and how to make art and perform. If an actor wants to be paid for his work, let him not accept a job at a 99 seat theater just as he does not have to accept a role in a student film but don't completely abolish the opportunists for others who sometimes just need a creative outlet during dry spells. Don't take away a huge portion of LA's theater scene. If we need a paycheck, we can work in television. Your minimum wage hardly makes a difference at all when it comes to income so it's a worthless solution.

99 seat theatre are a wonderful place to experiment and hone your craft. Please do not take this away from all of us.

I am a member of AEA and don't see how this move will help theatre and actors in LA.

I am not equity although I could be... BUT WILL NOT join since equity obviously does not support 99 seat theatre. This union is out of touch. Why doesn't equity focus its energies on increasing ticket sales- getting the community out to see theatre. If your bottom line is money (which it always is) don't you think keeping theatre alive is better than killing it?
