Hello All,
This is my first shot at creating a petition and clearly this site has some flaws. I think you may have to sign in / register to see everything (all comments / signatures. For example, when I log out I see that 9 people have signed. When I log-in I see that 26 people have signed.
To keep things simple, I will post updates every day so that we all know how many signatures we have.
Also, we need to concentrate on call the Board of Zoning and Appeals COMMITTEE members listed at the bottom of the petition and NOT THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS. The Committee Members are the ones voting on this on the 14th, not the County Commissioners. Feel free to call our two County Commissioners (Jerry Foster and Leslie Schell), if you want to keep them in the loop.
There may come a time to call the commissioners, but that time is not now. We need to focus our efforts on those w/ the votes. Like I said in the petition, BE NICE TO THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS! They are not the ones proposing this change, so don't take it out on them.

I strongly oppose the building of a wedding venue on Douglas Lane..I have lives on this road foe over 16 years and it was the wish of the Douglas family that our road be kept as a safe place to raise children and livestock. Allowing a wedding venue would open our area to possible drunk drivers and high noise levels at all hours of the day and night.

I live at 587 Douglas lane across the street from the proposed site. I purchased this property and built my permanent residence because of the peaceful and quiet setting away from the residential and commercial developments. This proposed venue would greatly disturb the way of life we moved here for and I am opposed to its construction and development.

My husband and I bought property when Oakhaven farm was divided. We bought this property to build our next home. We carefully chose this property to ensure that it would be a property that had zoning and neighborhood restrictions that would protect the serene peaceful setting and our property value. The proposed zoning change would completely destroy the peacefulness,of this community, create innapropriate traffic and safety conditions, and be very upsetting to many people. I certainly hope the zoning commission adheres to its original stance that we believed in when we invested in this very special community.

My daughter and son-in-law are two of the property owners who will be dramatically and negatively impacted if this commercial enterprise is allowed to be built smack dab in the middle of this beautiful rural setting. I had envisioned my granddaughters learning to safely ride their bikes on the quiet rural driveway their home will share with thier neighbors. That same driveway will become a dangerous traffic nightmare if this 'event venue' is allowed to proceed. The rights to privacy and peace written into the original agreement signed by all land purchasers should not be lost to a commercial enterprise.

building business property in a residential area is detrimental to the property owners. it will have a negative influence on future residential development in any community under this jurisdiction. future developers and homeowners will be watching to see how the county treats its residents.

Rezoning this land outside of the perimeters that the current owners bought the land under is not fair to the parties involved.

There are too many unoccupied commercial buildings in Hendersonville. We do not need to keep cluttering up the beautiful countryside for another needless commercial property. The people requesing the rezoning need to seek to utilize a pre existing commercial property for their venue!

My husband and I are purchasing land on Douglas Lane and will be relocating from a farm in Kentucky. We were so excited to retire next door to our daughter, husband and grandchildren. Though such a huge move for us, we fell in love with the area as soon as we made the first drive down Douglas Lane. I admit that we were a little apprehensive when we first heard of the estste sale directly across from our soon-to-be home but felt reassured when we heard the zoning restrictions in place that would seemingly protect this family area for just that...a safe zone families. Now, however, the thought of the noise and traffic that would be potentially occuring weekly right across from our driveway and literally amongst our neighbors homes....this is so upsetting. For the sake of money...the homes and lifestyles of many could be put at risk. The joggers, hikers, bikers and just local traffic will be placed at risk for the sake of a business venture. The zoning restrictions were already In place which prompted families to invest thousands of dollars believing they were investing in a safe haven for their families future. We will fight for our families and our homes.
I believe the event center should sell the property and build their center in an area commercial
This is not the right location for such a business.
