It is an outrage to make us pay the unbelievably high taxes that we pay and then use that money and fund other schools. Our kids' education should not suffer in order to improve the educations of others. The money and distribution if funds needs to be reworked. Please do not sign Senate Bull 16.

What are the arguments in support of SB 16? Illinois Senate President John Cullerton says that it "drives resources to the students that need it most". Mr. Fullerton is also keen on professing his love for Illinois, especially given the "progress we've made during the last 5 years". While his comments are laughable, there is nothing funny about his poor decision-making or his highly questionable judgment. There is also nothing funny about Illinois politicians modeling SB 16 after a similar Massachusetts bill, but leaving a key component of the Massachusetts bill on the cutting room floor. Massachusetts infused their education funding "redistribution" effort with $1B of new money. Illinois SB 16? ZERO new money. SB 16 is a short-sighted approach to reform. It gives state legislators a chance to pay lip service to an important issue and, in the end, it will do much more harm than good.

State needs to find a better way to fund schools not just take from districts who have been responsible in THEIR budget.

I no longer have children in school, but this Senate Bill is ridiculous and penalizes our school district (School District 303) for having good schools and will drive my home value down. I can't afford my tax bills now, and plan to move in 2 years to a smaller home to reduce my tax bills and out of Kane County because our tax bills are ridiculous now. Please do not pass this bill.

My property taxes have already gone up 30% in the past 5 years (with my home value falling). I can only imagine what this bill will do to our taxes!!

Another bill promoting distribution of wealth that the citizens of Illinois do not need or want.

Treat all children and families equally and stop relying on the more successful people to subsidize education when the State Constitution calls for the state to fund education.
