This petition makes a lot of good points and has much better suggestions than option 3. A new school (or two) needs to be built or additions should be made to schools in West Sylvania, where there are tons of new neighborhoods comprised mostly of young families, with new ones being built each year. But making huge renovations to a brand new school and bussing A LOT of kids halfway across town makes zero sense and will cause a lot of issues, many with transportation (and safety in transit) alone.

Option 3 has too many transitions throughout the child's educational path. This option also does not seem fiscally responsible to the district.

I want maple wood to stay K-5 and want all 3 of my kids to attend there based on proximity and the community involved.(1 is already through).

No on option 3: Maplewood is a wonderful community with amazing teachers--why break up something that is already very successful? We do not want four-five transitions for our kids; that works against forming secure bonds and a sense of security and community. What happens to Maplewood staff? They are some of the most caring and excellent teachers I've ever known. They deserve to stay in the school and community that they've spent years of their lives building. Maplewood was just recently built as an elementary school and is not equipped to be a junior high in space or structure. What is the financial impact of this decision? We'd like to spend money on educational opportunities and not restructuring building that was just built. Not all Maplewood students will go to Whiteford. Our neighborhood goes to Highland. Maplewood kids are being split from their friends in the middle of elementary school and will be the new kids at schools while other students stay at their home school. Option 3 is too disruptive and not financially sound from the information we've received.

I don't think it's best to have students transitioning to 4 different schools! Also, we chose this house for the school district it was a part of...please don't take it away!

No on option 3!!! I don't want my kids split between 4 schools!! Option 1 is the best choice and the least amount of change!!

Redistricting is a stress for everyone involved. There is no perfect solution. But the lesser of two evils is definitely option 1. I can support option 1. I cannot support option 3. My Maplewood Kindergartner will have to make 5 school transitions by the time he graduates from high school, which I fear will greatly impact his education. AND he will attend Whiteford, when Maplewood is across the street from my subdivision. He needs consistency and stability in his education, and a safe and short commute to and from school. No on option 3!

Let's not re-invent the wheel. Shift as few students as possible. Option 1 is OK. Option 3 is abysmal. No to option 3.
