If this gets passed, I will not vote for anyone who voted "yes" on this bill. Why would anyone want to "average" out the academic success of our children? Is throwing our money at the problem really a solution - will those students become more successful with our money? Or, will they continue to have the same problems but with more money. Academic success hinges on more then just money, are the children being supported at home? Is their home environment suitable for studying for the children? Their needs to be another solution, because lowering the the educational value in our area will hurt our children - why is that fair? This really is inequitable and hurts my children - and I don't appreciate that at all. Again, take a deeper look at the problems at these schools, and while trying to solve it, don't create new problems.

We moved to this district in hopes that our children finally receive the special services they are entitled to from the state do not lose them! We moved and gave up everything so our children could have a fair chance at a good education. The state needs to find a solution to benefit all children rather than depriving those FINALL receiving what they deserve!!

There have to be more viable solutions than proposed in SB 16 that would provide assistance to downstate school districts without stripping school districts such as ours of essential funding in the process. Vote No to SB 16.

While I think we need to improve schools in more impoverished school districts, I do not believe we should lower the standard by decreasing the funding in our school district to help fund other districts. One of the reasons we live where we do is so our children could obtain a good education. This is why we also do no mind paying high taxes. However, taking my tax dollars away from our schools and giving them to other districts is not why we moved to Orland Park. This is not right and our politicians are supposed to represent us. Vote no now and tell other members to do the same. Find a better way to fund the schools. What has happened to the tax dollars that the lottery was going to bring in for the schools? The problem is our politicians politicize everything and never act in a bipartisan way to solve the problems our state is facing. Our state government is no different than the federal government. Our politicians want to fight and blame the other party rather than work at the problems we are facing. They should be more like Dan Rostenkowski and Tip O'Neill when Ronald Reagan took office. These fine politicians did not act on party lines and play the blame game. They worked together to change the tax code and get the country moving forward and growing the economy.
