City Hall finally stopped hiding behind their archaic bylaws and voted to allow urban hens. It took relentless pressure to force these bureaucrats to get with the times. Keep an eye on the transition to ensure they do not try to bury us in impossible permit requirements.

We're lucky to live in a place as beautiful as Kelowna, although our bylaws and city management are clearly behind the times! Urban gardening and farming is a human right that should not be mandated by pencil pushers at city hall. Feeding your family with fresh organic produce from your garden goes hand in hand with fresh eggs from urban hens! We have to stand up and push back on Kelowna's NO URBAN HENS policy. The policy is outdated and behind many other cities and municipalities (Kamloops, Victoria, and many more) that not only allow urban hens, but also promote urban farming as healthy and environmentally responsible. Please sign the petition and lets make a change for the responsible and respectable lifestyle of backyard chickens in Kelowna!

The momentum we have built makes it clear that the city hall pencil pushers can no longer ignore our demand for common sense. This surge shows they are completely out of touch with the people they supposedly serve. Keep the pressure on until they drop this pathetic ban.

Please put this thru . It has been several years now that council has been thinking about it. My family and other low income families could benefit from raising our own chickens.

So many other Canadian cities allow backyard chickens. Kelowna is an agricultural town- this makes no sense.

Urban chickens should be allowed in Kelowna. They are great for pest and weed control as well as great fertilizer and eggs. Not to mention they make the best pets.

Nobody should be denied the right to produce their own food, especially when said production isn't going to cause any more noise than a cat or dog would and can easily and humanely be kept in a small space.

Any town that allows dogs the size of small elephants that create LOUD noise, should also allow a few hens (no roosters) as well.

I truly believe we should be able to have hens in Kelowna. They make great pets. I would even be willing to pay for a chicken license to have them.

Must be more that can be done than just a petition?
