Ladies - we're all too familiar with the Eid morning scene. No, it's not a picturesque family lovingly preparing for Eid prayer.
It's a red-eyed face behind disheveled hair (mom) dragging confused creatures at the crossroads of sleepiness and premature excitement (kids) out of bed after a month-long terrible sleep routine.
It's the mom who's debating whether to shower her kids or just spray water in their hair, to do the elaborate hair-do she saw on YouTube for her daughter or resort to a braid and stick a flower in it, to insist that the kids brush their teeth or just slap a Listerine breath strip on each tongue, and then, oh yes! Breakfast.

Husband is asking if his clothes are ironed.
(Bloodshot eyes glare in his direction. Husband decides to iron his own clothes.)

And all this at 6:30 AM just to make it in time for prayer at 8 AM!

Many sisters asked to have Eid prayer at 9 am. So, we'll be proposing it to the board Wednesday, June 29th, inshaAllah.

Will the extra hour turn that scenario into a calm, loving morning?

Not completely, but it'll give a few more minutes to sleep, a little more time to wake up the kids, and a more probable chance of enjoying Eid morning *that* much more.

I heard back from someone on the board who thinks the shift might actually be doable if we keep this momentum going. Honestly just thinking about that extra hour of sleep for all the moms out there makes the whole chaos of organizing this feel worth it plus my own kids are already asking if they can skip the braid if we leave later.

Yes pls change it to 9. Getting 3 kids ready by 8 is literally impossible and we always end up late anyways.

The "all to familiar" is not very relatable. There r ladies in community without a waki and kids. But I fly in to be with my sister tgat morning. So 9 am is great.

Everyone has the freedom to dress the way they choose. People also have the right to practice and follow any religion so long as it is not hurting others. Wearing the hijab hurts no one. In fact, the concept of covering your head is in many other religions such as in Christianity and Judaism.

I know that if salah is at 8 a.m, it will be incredibly stressful to try to get everyone ready in time and do not plan to attend that early. I have been living outside of Panama City for 6 years, and the mosques in San Diego began Eid prayers between 8:45 and 9:30. That is the same in south Florida.
