OK, but that does not address the concerns - at all.
I believe parents should vote. As parents and as taxpayers, we have the right to have a say in our kids' future.

If Principal Beyer wants a under enrollement @ Ogden, he'll move forward with this proposed merger. Parents will pull their kids out of Ogden, then he'll have a real budget crisis.

Let's look at the numbers.. How many signatures are there supporting the merger? NONE! ZERO! NADA! So, we're winning! 138 VS 0 equals, the majority of signatures reject the merger.

Your petition points clearly infer classism and prejudice on every level. Just be honest and say that you don't believe in equal access in our society, specifically when it comes to education, at the very least. How did you, a minority in the U.S., get access to the extensive education you earned? Your occupation as a lawyer does not surprise me at all; it explains the pushiness and snobbery you exhibited at the board meeting.

Lets look at these numbers. We'll assume that we average 2 engaged parents per Ogden student (some will only have one, others will have remarriage situations and may have more than 2). Based on 850 students and an average of 2 parents per, there are potentially 1700 signatures you could grab here-- you have 137. Congratulations, you have less than 10% of the impacted parents signed on to this petition.
Please stop acting as if you represent the majority when the supporters of this petition are the actual outliers. Your antics makes others who are concerned about this merger look less credible simply by being on the same side of the issue as you.

These signatures have to serve as proof that the Ogden community doesn't approve this merger. LSC and the principal Beyer have to listen to us. They're in their positions to represent us, not to rule or dictate over us. They're not kings/Queens. Would somebody show this signatures to the LSC members? Thanks.

I am against this merger. The LSC and PTA are not representing the parents of Ogden any longer. This merger is being pushed through by CPS and Beyer is just a puppet for them looking to advance only his career. Ogden and CPS administration is not something that I can believe in any longer.

If you feel blindsided and backstabbed by the actions of Ogden principal and LSC, I propose boycotting any and all of their events and fundraisers. I will no longer support the school that treats its students and parents in this manner.

the 100+ signatures on this petition shows the passion in our community. We are in a neighborhood school in a cash-strapped school district. Let's volunteer, fund-raise, and participate in person to organize solutions facing our school. Get to know your LSC members, talk to parents on the exploratory committee who are considering many options, and help create positive workable solutions. Hope this interest means we will see many more faces at the school and fundraising events (Note: one is coming up on Thursday).

We chose Ogden primarily because of its PYP. Inclusiveness is an important component of the IB education. Some of the attitudes and conduct behind this petition movement have been deplorable, and despite self-adulation, have shown that there are elements in our school community as challenged for character and values as some of you perceive the parents at Jenner.

This is a very rushed decision with parents given very minimal time and opportunity to explore other avenues to alleviate the issue. Sadly Principal Beyer is going to be like the previous Principals that got ousted by the parents voices for not looking out to the best interest of the Ogden family. Ogden is a very diverse school in many aspects better than most school that claim diversity. Principal Beyer has completely ignored two major concerns that were brought up at both meetings:- academic rigor and student safety. Not sure how a Principal can overlook and push forward with these major issues not addressed.

The problem with this proposal is that - now that it has been put on the table, it will be impossible to walk away from. Even if the Ogden community comes up with viable alternatives, walking away from this will immediately have Ogden labelled as "Elitist","Racist" etc etc. Never mind that Ogden is already an extremely diverse school in every aspect you can think of. Ogden's downfall started when CPS unceremoniously kicked out Principal Staral. Since then, its been in a downward spiral with teachers and administration making exit plans and generally being disillusioned. The hope was that Principal Beyer would lift it up, by reinstating so many wonderful programs that have been cancelled since Staral's ouster - but he seems to be determined to simply kick it around some more while polishing up his resume.
