In Great Schools, Jenner has a rate of 1/10. Ogden is 9/10. It is a huge difference.

I'm against the merge because of Jenner's poor performance. It's obvious that mixing their students with Ogden students will result a quality decline. Ogden will must drop the expectations to be able to meet everyone's level in the class.
It seems to me that this merge would only benefit the private developers of the new Cabrini Green housing project. Property prices will raise if they belong to the prestigious Ogden School District instead of the very-low performing Jenner. Jenner got 1 out of 10 on the Great Schools ratings, it shouldn't be even an option that Ogden considers.
I was very hopeful when the new principal was introduced but pushing this horrible idea might end up in him losing his hasn't even earned popularity among the parents.

I am against the merger as currently being pushed on us. There are a ton of legitimate issues that are being swept under the carpet. The Saturday meeting was a farce - it was a political rally organized by the "Friends of Jenner" really, I think Principal Beyer is now being swept along with the tide. Why is this decision being taken in 75 days? Why is the audit not being completed? Why is the Principal defensive and increasingly patronizing? Who does this administration actually feel they should answer to? I could be ok with a merger under the right circumstances, but only if things are in the open and all the concerns are specifically addressed. Enough with this rah rah, save the world stuff.

Principal Beyer just noted that we should all be civil at the meeting tonight because 'that the entire city is watching and listening'. I agree with this without a doubt. But,
I believe Principal Beyer wanted this to happen because it throws him into a political spotlight to bolster his career. In a previous DNA article he was quoted that Ogden was 'hightly
functional' and required a 'focus on steady improvement, not transformational change.' How is this not an extreme transformational change. Is he is will to take his children out of private
school and enroll them next year at Ogden/Jenner then lets see that happen first. However, until then, I am against this merger.

I believe that even if this petition stops this from happening right now it is probably just a matter of time before they close Jenner and then just have Jenner be consolidated with Ogden unless something drastic occurs. My main question is how did a school of that size get approved to be built when the student population is so small compared to the size of the school. IDK. Seems like some contractor made a ton of money of this deal that now we are suffering for.

Consider that when Ogden was opened in 2011 the 109,000 square feet was set to handle 900 students at a cost of $60,074/seat. There are presently 708 students enrolled at Ogden or less than 80% of capacity according to the CPS own estimates. Why the fuss over overcrowding at a school that was constructed to accommodate 200 more students?

Jenner does not need this merger as the enrollment should pick up from all the residential construction going up on west Division Street. There is definitely a hidden agenda here. I suspect the real motives behind this proposal are not what we've been told.

I strongly oppose merging with Jenner because of safety and academic reasons.
Jenner cannot be closed until 2018 anyway, so why is this merger so aggressively pushed on us just 2 weeks after the start of school year? We do not have to meet this year's CPS deadline because that school is not going anywhere. Why not take time to do more research, weigh pros and cons and then make a decision that satisfies all involved parties?
When parent safety concerns are dismissed as fear mongering and hysteria instead of being addressed, one has to wonder if the safety situation at and around Jenner is not as rosy as the Principals would like us to believe.

I seriously worry about my child's safety and interest will be jeopardized. I voted against the merger between Ogden and Jenner.
