The residents of Vista Ridge wish to formally express their concerns regarding the proposed construction of over 30 new homes near the roundabout at Vista Parkway and Mountain View. We are particularly worried about the exacerbation of already hazardous traffic patterns on Vista Parkway, which have deteriorated over recent years. This appeal does not seek to halt development but rather to urge a comprehensive, data-driven analysis to assess the existing traffic safety issues in the area and the potential impact of the new development.

Details:

  • Since the closure of County Line Road as an access point to Highway 7 several years ago, Vista Parkway has become a favored route to Highway 7, leading to an estimated fourfold increase in traffic. This surge has resulted in frequent incidents of excessive speeding, with drivers often recklessly navigating the roundabout at Vista Parkway and Mountain View, causing tire screeches and dangerous driving conditions with them going "pedal to the metal" off of the roundabout. This is witnessed daily.
  • The proposed development threatens to further increase traffic volume and introduce years of construction-related disruptions, heightening safety concerns for local families.

Request to Erie:

  • Delay the development and conduct a thorough, data-driven study to evaluate the impact of the proposed development on traffic volume and safety for nearby residents.
  • Consider implementing measures such as speed bumps on Vista Parkway and developing alternative routes to Highway 7 like reopening County Line and Hwy 7, or connecting Bonanza Drive to Vista Parkway, to alleviate traffic safety issues.
  • Present the findings and potential solutions to the residents of Vista Ridge before proceeding with any development plans.

Very simple, We were told no residences would be built at this site when we made the investment to acquire our property. If Vista Ridge Corp wants to expand the housing offering using this land that has been deemed as “Commercial Development Site” for more than a decade after the homes at the Greens were built then sure, but please write us a check for the current market valuation hit that our properties will take; or even better, sell me the lot behind my home and we will turn it into open space. As simple as that.

The traffic is terrible now. It makes it dangerous for people trying to cross Vista Parkway on foot and turning out from Lawson onto Vista Parkway. This road was not meant to be a main road but a neighborhood road and it’s turned into a highway.

This road is a hazard for bikers and drivers alike. Vehicles are constantly speeding around the traffic circle with little concern for on-coming traffic.

This additional housing in Vista Ridge should be denied due to traffic safety concerns and overpopulation in our area. Increased housing density can lead to more vehicles on the road which is already overcrowded due to County Line changes, exacerbating traffic congestion and raising the risk of accidents. Moreover, this will add strain to the local infrastructure and resources, compromising the quality of life for current residents. Our community resources are already too crowded. We have to dodge people while we are walking due to people driving way over the speed limit. Please don’t allow this change.

Speeding on Vista Parkway is already out of control!! We are afraid every time we walk across to the pool with our granddaughter

As a resident who has been negatively impacted due to our backyard facing Vista Parkway, I feel this is a necessary step before adding to the already dangerous road. It is a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or worse! Not only are drivers not safe, the pedestrian crosswalks are not safe due to the reckless driving and excessive speed!!

With the increased traffic from County Line rd this neighborhood creates too much congestion.
