  1. Medicaid expansion would provide health coverage to more than 10,000 people in Senator Obenshain’s District. It would help 4,000 individuals in Delegate Gilbert’s district alone. These are people who either do not have coverage or have inadequate coverage.
  2. Medicaid Expansion gives Virginia access to federal funds already available. We’ve already paid this in our taxes, but we are getting no benefit. Last year, Virginia would have received $91 million in additional federal funding had expansion been in effect. Over the next 9 years Virginia would save $1.64 billion by expanding Medicaid.
  3. Medicaid Expansion would also help control the cost of premiums for those who already have insurance. They would no longer be paying for the emergency room treatment and medical assistance for Medicaid eligible Virginians who either have no insurance or have inadequate health coverage.
  4. Virginia should join the 32 states who have already expanded Medicaid, states where there are both Republican and Democratic Governors. It is not and should not be a partisan issue.
  5. We, the undersigned, call on Senator Mark Obenshain and Delegates Todd Gilbert, Chris Collins and Michael Webert to support Medicaid Expansion in Virginia.

Seeing the numbers climb feels heavy when the reality on the ground remains so difficult. I am exhausted by the constant resistance we face but your continued belief in this keeps me moving forward.

As a nurse practitioner in a VA rural free clinic , I have first hand knowledge of how lack of health insurance and access to basic medical care shortens precious lives. Feel free to contact me.

We have a family member that us disabled and lives with us. In order to continue take care of this person in our home, we need this help.

If Delegate Gilbert had to get his "health care" once a year at the Wise County free clinic like so many people I know do, he might not be so quick and proud to say how dead-set against Medicaid expansion he is.

I am a constituent of yours as well as a provider of women"s health. I also provide Women's Health services twice monthly at the Shenandoah County Community Clinic on a volunteer basis - I KNOW about the needs of women in our Valley. Please expand this coverage to keep Virginians healthy and productive!

Not to take these available federal funds to help Virginians is unconscionable. Please expand Medicaid.

Expand Medicaid, working families need this. VA can’t afford to not accept federal dollars for this.

Healthcare is a basic right. Expanding medical coverage is not only humane, but is good for the commonwealth.

Please vote for Medicaid expansion! It's the decent thing to do for our fellow Virginians who are struggling to make ends meet.
