We, the undersigned residents of the Town of Virgil, support protecting our way of life, our roads, and our aquifer through a ban on gas drilling within its borders. We believe that shale gas extraction, as it is currently practiced, threatens our water, air, health, and property. Large scale heavy industry is incompatible with the rural nature of our town. We strongly urge the Virgil Town Board to further protect us with measures that explicitly forbid all new gas drilling within the town border.
