We, the undersigned, believe that the cascade system for prescribing veterinary medicines is inappropriate and overly restrictive for treatment of pet animals (including equines documented as ineligible for meat production) and would call for a review of the system.
Cascade makes prescribing human medicines a criminal offence except in limited circumstances and this has led to the system being abused by some pharmaceutical companies.
The cascade system is placing unnecessary and sometimes irreconcilable demands on veterinary surgeons endeavouring to remain within the law whilst attempting to ensure the best for animal welfare as sworn by oath on admission to the Royal College Of Veterinary Surgeons.
This, we strongly feel is leading to significant difficulties for veterinary surgeons, pet owners and hence subsequent welfare issues for domestic animals.

Watching my own horse suffer because of these restrictive rules is what started this fight. We are nearing the target and I need everyone to get the link in front of one more person so we can finally force a review of this broken system.

Seeing one hundred people recognize the cruelty of these rigid restrictions is beyond what I hoped for when I started this. My own horse deserves better than the current rules allow and your support confirms I am not alone in this fight.

Lost my pony last year because the right meds werent allowed. This system is broken and cruel.
Ridiculous red tape. Animals are suffering while companies make money off expensive alternatives that aren't half as good.
My vet wanted to give my dog something that works but couldn't because of these rules. Costing a fortune for stuff that doesnt even help. Fix it.
Common sense needs to prevail. Vets should be able to treat animals with the best available meds without worrying about getting sued.
WHY are we letting pharma greed dictate what our pets can have?? It makes me sick seeing my cat in pain because of some outdated rule.
