The Evergreen State College's VRC serves as a vital resource for hundreds of active duty, reserve, retired, and family members using the GI Bill. Its services provide for the health, safety, security, and well-being of this protected population. We, members of the Student Veteran Organization, propose to expand the VRC to include the adjacent classroom (L1005) to provide for the needs of our ever-increasing population.
Here is the thing, the VRC serves more than academic needs. They provide a space for people like me to break away from the craziness of college and spend time with like-minded people. An expansion would mean that more people could do the things I do...study, eat, relax, figure out paperwork, and sometime just read. It would allow more networking for veterans at the school so as to create lasting friendships. This needs to happen so that the people who served our nation have the chance to transition into a happy and healthy life full of potential and opportunity.
