Petition for Student Veterans and Students with Disabilities Representation in Associated Students
Student veterans representing the Student Veterans Association and students with disabilities community have written a resolution to add a "seat" on the AS Board. This position would be filled by a veteran who would help educate and advocate for Veterans and the Military affiliated population on campus and make sure that the disability community here at HSU have a voice. YOUR Voice would be heard and critical needs such as space, staffing, education and resources could be addressed at the student government level.
We need you to attend the AS Meeting on April 3rd at 3:00 pm in the UC Banquet room next to the Depot. Why? Because many students who are not veterans, family members of veterans and students with disabilities need to understand your population. The singular barrier to providing resources is a lack of understanding of student veterans, military backgrounds disabilities and your experiences.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the stories you have been sharing in the comments about your experiences on campus. The people in charge are starting to notice the attention this is getting and that is entirely because of how you have rallied for each other.

The momentum building behind this proposal completely floors me. This is entirely due to your willingness to speak up for our fellow students and I am just honored to be a small part of it.

How can the Associated Students Council be regarded as the official voice of the student body if it is not inclusive all of the HSU student communities? It is time to recognize the military culture on campus by including a student veteran seat on the AS Board.
As a sister, significant other, and friend to people in this community they deserve the representation they worked hard for. Their a different community than most with their discipline, maturity, and work ethic, however, they lack the representation they need/deserve within the university.
This is an excellent idea that deserves our full support!
This would really help people with disabilities voices be heard!
