He did what he thought was right in a split second, hard to fault someone for doing a good thing even if it's against company policy.

America has become the land of the criminal. Protect their rights. What about the honest, hard working, law abiding citizen? Give the guy his job back. He did the noble thing and helped someone in need!

Give the poor guy his job back. Why is it a bad thing that his natural instinct was to help someone in need!! I spend on average about $450-$600 a WEEK in your store and until he's reinstated I will not return, I will also instruct my 25+ employees and all there friends to not return to such a heartless corporation. If I'm going to shop at a heartless corporation I might as well save money and shop at Wal-Mary and Winn-Dixie which are both closer to me by the way.

RECONSIDER .. look at our nation right now. The good people/Samaritans are becoming more and more afraid to help due to the negative that follows. A sidewalk policy .. maybe for store products; this wasn't about the store or its goods.. it was a human assisting another. Dont cause this person to become one that turns a blind eye to a person in need.. due to the fear you've now instiled in them!

I think the people at HQ need a demotion. Better still show them the exit door . This will eliminate the step of demotion. Just like spoiled fruit "one bad apple ...."

If the employee is punished I will promise to take my shopping to Winn Dixie and Walmart! They are much cheaper anyway!

Shame on Publix for demoting a store employee, a manager, for helping a thief not get away. That is the problem nowadays... people don't want to be involved. How about Publix giving the manager some accolades and let him keep his job. I live near other grocery stores, maybe they need my business instead. Disgusted!!!!
