I think you should be ashamed to demote this man instead of rewarding him. Just another reason I don;t shop your store. You are too expensive and nothing is any better than any other store in the area including WalMart. Change your policy on this you miserable people running this monopoly.

This is unbelievable! Publix is obviously not out for the care of customers! As a loyal Publix customer and i'm sure others feel the same way - I will shop elsewhere!

This is ridiculous. He should be honored as a hero not demoted with a huge pay cut . That particular Publix store is where I shop and it's nice to know that there are employees willing to step up to the plate to help someone in this way . Publix needs to rethink it's harsh policies towards heroism!!!!

Perhaps the thief knew of the Publix policy to not chase. If this is the case, as any of us safe to shop there? Can we expect to have our purses stolen while staff watches? I have been a loyal Publix customer for many years. Definitely rethinking where my dollars will be spent. This man is a hero. He reacted to a woman in need & did what any person with a conscience would do. Give him his job back & a raise!!!!

My comments are all over social media. This manager should be praised for his courage. The Publix policy has nothing to do with employee safety, it is all about them protecting themselves from this litigious world that we live in today.

I can see why management would not want there employees hurt or killed But I think the disciniplanary action far out ways the duty. Some stores I have been to have security at the door

Grew up in Venice. Currently live in Chattanooga, TN and shop at Publix exclusively. Will change to another grocery store chain if this manager is not reinstated to his previous job position and salary.

There are rules, but rules need to be tempered with some common sense, some judgement. It was very poor judgement on your part (Publix) to demote that man. He should be praised for caring about others. He wasn't trying to recover a six-pack! SHEESH...

While I'm sure policies were written with employee safety in mind, Publix is known for it's enlightened policies and should recognize the heroism shown, not punish it.
