Venice FL Publix Manager Reinstatement

The manager should stay in his position and not demoted!!

i could only hope and pray that if this happened to me, a manager would tackle the ass**** that tried to steal my purse!!!! Shame on you Publix!!!!!! Reinstate him!!!!

Publix needs to do the right thing and give James Caldwell his old job and salary back. Mr. Caldwell did the right thing in this particular situation. Publix should do the same.

Stop shopping at Publix until he gets his position back!!!!!!!! I rarely shop there but this issue will make me never step foot back in the store!

I understand the policy. My husband worked in grocery for 30 years in Ohio. However, it is ridiculous to break him down to Asst. Mgr.! Suspension without pay for a Ce weeks would have been appropriate. Publix has really changed my feelings about shopping there!

James Caldwell is one of the best managers I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He was always kind and courteous, and always had a smile on his face. It would be a shame to lose a manager like him and would leave a huge deficit in the managerial positions. To demote a hero is a travesty and sets a bad example. More stores could use a manager like him. Publix please reconsider and imagine if it was your mom or sister or daughter who was in her position. If not reinstated as a manager, I and many others will boycott this store. He deserves a raise not a demotion. Shame on you publix. You should be praising this gentleman, not punishing him.

When big business takes over and no more neighborhood grocers who care for their employees and customers

I am very unhappy with managements decision to punish the grocery manager for chasing and catching the purse thief of one of their customers! What kind of ridiculous policy is this??? They should be rewarding this person instead! I can't imagine how long he had to hold the thief while waiting for the police to show up! I for one would like to shake his hand! Shame on you Publix Management!! In my opinion, because of his actions, Mr. James Caldwell should be promoted to the head of Publix Customer Relations Department! Don't penalize this man! SHAME ON YOU PUBLIX! THIS WAS A STUPID DECISION!

Give him his job back. Thats just nonsense the man deserves a promotion not demotion. In my eyes he saved the ladys purse and that kids life because who know s next time that kid trys same thing but gets killed over it. Maybe he will learn his lesson and straigten out. The manager should not be demoted.

Dear Publix, Do the right thing. Yes, the manager did not follow your policies. But the circumstances..... Reinstate him as a manager and give him his regular pay. Put a note in his file and a slap on the wrist. By all means propect your company and tne owners from any possible lawsuits. I will wait to see what happens with this. Until then, I am shopping elsewhere.

This is the Publix I shop at several times a week. This manager may have violated policy, but he made a split second decision in the best interest of his customer.

He should be praise not punished

I totally understand having policies in place within a corporation. However, policies aren't laws therefore they should be looked at wisely and reevaluated. Why should a hero be demoted? Publix should be very proud of this man.

I will not shop at publix until this person gets reinstated and should get a raise and promoted.

This employee not only saved this woman's valuables, credit cards etc, but he saved her from idenenity theft which can be hell. He is our hero!!! Reprimand, council , yeah ok but the punishment was way to harsh!!!!!!
