Please have a change of heart. While policy and rules dictate our lives, Publix pride and morals stand strong. Mr George is looking down watching.

This is outrageous and unconsciousable . I will boycott Publix until a public apology is made to this hero .. and his job is reinstated .. I urge others to do the same as next time the victim could be your mom or dad or yourself . Choose who and what you support with you $ . Perhaps not shopping at that Publix might encourage the management to have a change of heart. James did the morally right thing.

I'm appalled that the BEST grocery store would discipline a manager that did a moral and justifiable act. Stop this insanity and put this person back into the position that they were in or reverse the disciplinary actions that was done to him.

This employee should be commended not penalized. I once owned a liquor store next to a Publix. They were always good neighbors. One manager would chase vagrants bothering people in the parking lot. Gave us bags when we sustained fire damage from another business. So even though you're overpriced on a lot of things I always shopped there because I thought you inspired your employees to care about the people that shopped in your store. I think this manager cared. I think the lack of caring is what's wrong with this Country. It breaks my heart that Publix is following this trend. If that's your policy, heck, Winn-Dixie is down the street and Costco opens in a couple months. Screwing employees because of caring is WRONG!!

So sorry he is being punished for providing "legendary customer service"

Please do NOT do this to him. Don't punish him based on an archaic policy that doesn't support the current issue - morally he was obligated to doing the right thing - and you're essentially taking away people's desire to do the right thing for fear of getting punished. Think about the message you're sending.

Publix should be proud of this manager for making this choice. As an employee of publix, I can't believe they would give him a demotion and pay cut. I was taught when I started that we are here for the customers and to provide good customer service. What this manager did was above and beyond good. He put the customer first. He should get put back as a manager. Publix should think twice about denoting him. HE CARES ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS. isn't that what you want

He is a wonderful person for trying to help! No bad thing should come towards him! If anything he deserves a raise, or at least acknowledgment for the great things he has done!

Publix should be proud to have a manager who cares. We will shop in a different store until the manager returns to the shop.

It's disgusting that corporate policy trumps human decency!

Publix must stop watching a crime and start stopping a crime. Everyone needs someone who sees something that this and does what is needed, not walking away saying it is not my problem.

The man served his customer and went above and beyond. As a representative of Publix, the complete store chain should praise his ethics and morals, his courage and decision to act of behalf of a citizen wringed, customer or not! This man and his decision to act on behalf of another should, without question, BE CELEBRATED!!! There are not enough people willing to get involved to benefit another, even in obvious and dire circumstances! This activity should be encouraged! SHAME ON PUBLIX!!! He ought to receive a bonus and a Publix recognition in public for his HEROISM!!! It is shameful of Publix to dishonor such a man. His decision to act on the behalf of a Publix customer should be regarded as exemplary. Publix should apologize in public, honor him with a plaque, give him a bonus, raise his wage! You should want to keep this extraordinary person in your employ!!! This has certainly changed my perspective of Publix; causing me to question your mission to serve customers; how you treat honorable employees/people; why you wouldn't recognize a hero in your midst; why Publix would put a negative connotation on such a golden opportunity to shine in the eyes of your community. Publix' actions and perspective are deplorable! This man will be valuable to some other business who would more greatly appreciate his passion and devotion enough to put his own life in jeopardy to defend another!
