This Man needs to get his job back. I agree, if it was over a steak, then I would say let it go. But this punk took everything from this woman. The manager did the right thing. And by you demoting him, gives his attorney more ammunition to get him off!

i am a lifelong Publix shopper and believer in you business model of whose core is great customer service. Please do the right thing for this employee as you try to do for every customer. I will be very disappointed in your corporation if he is not reinstated to his previous position. In fact, he should be given a medal!

My family has been shopping at Publix for just over 20 years, my parents for over 30, and my sister and her family for over 20. Maybe it's time to hit up the Wal-mart market grocery or Cosco. I'm sure I could convince at least a couple of my friends as well. Maybe even petition a boycott among the Students and thier families at State College of Florida and the University of South Florida where I attend both campuses.

Shame on Publix James Caldwell is a great person a great employee who swells in the customer service aspect of running the store he has service skills above all others!! As a retired employee and stockholder of this company I ask that you reinstate James to his position!!

Ridiculous. The associate should not have gotten punished. The store I use to work in I saw this happen and assocaiates chased the thief. How would corporate feel of it was one of their relatives. With a lot more cash etc.

He is a hero for helping a woman down on her luck ..... I would hope someone would help me or my children if they were in need. This is part of our problem in this day in age , to many people turn their backs.
Publix is known for customer Sevice , now

I fully realize Mr Caldwell violated company policy. He most likely was not thinking of company policy, because he TRULY cares for his customers, his store, and the reputation of Venice Publix. Perhaps a short suspension, with full reinstatement?

This manager did exactly what any good hearted human would do!!! Publix you ALWAYS STATE "go above and beyond" for your customers... Well he did and now you treat him like a grain of dirt!!! Yes you do say "your life isn't worth getting hurt over money" and "let them go" but the twist here is he did go above and beyond for YOUR CUSTOMER!!!!! NOW LOOK WHATS HAPPENING!!!! YOU are treating him like dirt... You have demoted him and cut his pay!! Is this how you want your customers to see how you treat your devoted employees??? I see a lot of customers on here are not to happy with you!!! You might want to rethink your decision on this.!!! He did the right thing!!!!

If publix wants to continue to receive my business they will make this right... I've lived in Venice since 1975-76 and have shopped publix for many years. But to demote a manager for protecting an elderly and sickly women is horrific. In a day and time where in. It's hard to believe publix went this route. This is something Walmart would do. Backwoods thinking I mean. The plaza is owned by publix he didn't leave the publix owned property to give chase or to be a hero to this woman and our community. They should be utterly ashamed and till they fix this travesty I will no longer shop there businesses at any location. Period.
