This instance seems like a simple case of extenuating circumstances to me. I think he should be rewarded instead of demoted!!

I find this beyond reprehensible!! Shame on you Publix!!!! This man did a GOOD thing and you are punishing him, I think everyone should hold picket signs in front of this store!

I am a rule follower and understand the need to enforce rules. However, counseling and reprimand is a strong enough consequence. This man made an error in following protocol, yet did it for the correct reason. We need more people like him. Also, he assessed the danger to the public and saw that this robber posed no threat. Your punishment was too steep. I will be shopping at Walmart until this is rectified.

Publix was dead wrong in demoting that HERO Manager. This is a disgrace in humanity in how they treat their employees. I will not be shopping there till I see that there is justice for this employee.

how can they punish him for helping a customer. Don't they thrive on customer service and making everything right and customers happy. Didn't he full fill this . He should get his job back and like she said maybe 1 or 2 week suspension. But than comes the issue of him having a target on his back with publix because now they will watch him like a hawk so that they can demote him or fire him for this stunt.

Don't punish the manager for doing the right thing by that customer. As a woman I understand that we carry our entire lives in our purses & would be devastated if mine was stolen. Show a little grace.

If you have any sense you will see that this is not the intent of your own policy. The young man in the wrong needed to not get away with his crime. This may be the thing that helps turn him around. And think how bad you are making your customer feel!! Like she is in the wrong for screaming for help. Because of her now a good employee has had a job demotion. Don't you hope someone would do an act of kindness for your mom or grandmother? Do the right thing, fix this.

This is a powerful story that should be used to uplift a community not tear it down. Publix is a wonderful company to work for and I understand thier policy, however, this Mgr should be celebrated not punished. Please reconsider your position and reinstate this Hero.
