Sometimes common sense or doing the right thing over rules store policy. Punishing this man not only blemishes your stores reputation but it also discourages people from helping one another. Save face and do the right thing. Don't lose customers over something like this, your decreased quality in counter food and packaged deli foods is bad enough.

So sad. All the things going on in this world and Publix wants to be so petty.

As I twelve year employee of Publix, I feel like this was customer service at its best. Treat the customers like kings and queens, that includes protecting them.

I understand polices. But Publix should be proud of their employee in this situation. Hard to find good people these days doing the right thing. No demotion if you feel the common needs to do anything give hint a day suspension.

It is so wrong in today's times that people helping people is wrong. What kind of publicity do you think you would have received, if your employee stood there and told your customer, I'm sorry ma'am but I'm not allowed to help you. A shout out to all criminals wanting to rob a Publix, If you get past the sidewalk, you are home free!!

I have done all my business with publix for 16 years. I ,and my family and friends will discontinue to patronize this company if they do not reinstate their employee to his previous status . He did the right thing, and if publix will not stand behind him then we as customers will shop elsewhere

Here is part of Publix mission statement: Involved as responsible citizens in our communities. So why is this employee being reprimanded?

I shop at this Publix several times per week, spending thousands of dollars- and have done so for 30 years. I have stopped shopping at Publix, and will continue that ban- until Publix Execs come to their senses and realize PEOPLE come first- NOT POLICY. And certainly not this CYA "looks good on paper" policy. There is no "discipline" required here for Mr. Caldwell, rather a bonus and pat on the back- for a job well done.

Really Publix? This does not involve any of your product but an innocent hard working woman and a grocery manager doing what any decent human would do. Your policies are outdated and your stuck up attitude is appauling. How can you penalize a man for being a good person? Your demoting a man for one life lesson that for most of us we have been taught when we were kids. If you were in the same shoes you would want help too.

James Caldwell is a good man and a good manager. I had the privilege of working for him several years ago when I was still with Publix. He deserves to be reinstated.
