In a world where no one wants to take responsibility, I think this manager should be applauded for doing what's right. No one wants to get involved anymore and that's why America is in the state it is now. We need more heroes like this manager and a business who stands up for them!

If I was in this same scenario, I would have done the same exact thing. It's sad that this poor person is being punished for taking action. Most people stand idly by and watch these kind of events happen and won't lift a finger to help someone in need. Publix should be ashamed. We need more people jumping into action. Way to make sure every employee will refuse to help those in need. Change the policy. Don't try to change the employees.

Corporate please do the right thing. Would you really rather have cookie theives in your employ or a hero? What if the customer had been stabbed? Time to rethink your thinking and change policy to fit the situation. Be fair and reasonable. It's the right thing to do. Besides more customers will visit this store when they learn of a reversal. No amount of money can buy that kind positive advertising! Its not impossible

I would completely understand if he had got demoted over chasing someone over merchandise.. but this woman could not defend herself. I think he should have been counseled for sure but given a second chance. I absolutely love this company but I think some of the policies are upside down.. good luck.

This manager acted on human instinct and probably did not run to check the handbook. You should be great full he acted quickly and with such heroic results. If this was a company policy, write him up. Tell him not to do it again. Maybe next time it will be your wife and he can stand there and do nothing. I shop at this Publix and have for over 15 years. I am a loyal customer, but I will change if he is not reinstated.

Being punished for what should be a good deed?! A previously charged 16 year old should be the one being suspended from school, not an employee trying to do the right thing for an older victim who cannot defend herself. Shame on you publix!!
