So sad when such a public company demote someone for doing the right thing! That is what is wrong with our country right now, being politically correct and not doing the right thing! So sad Publix!

These actions may outside of the corporate lines, however, this gentleman is in management assumably as he is is capable of the decision making process. Managers are given the latitude to make the hard calls and that was done In this case with your customer's well-being first and foremost in mind. It is with the utmost urgency that I ask that you reconsider your decision within your stringent guidelines to reconsider your demotion of this fine employee and please reinstate his current position and status within the corporation as he so rightly deserves based on his actions and decision-making skills.

These are the times when judgement should be used. This manager is an exceptional citizen, and should be rewarded for doing the right thing, not reprimanded.

I can grok the reason for disciplinary action - but it looks grossly unreasonable compared to the result, and assuredly with the public relations situation.

The young man should be given a medal and a promotion, not a pay cut and a demotion. That is what is wrong with our world. I hope if I ever need help someday, it will be there for me. I bet the people at Corporate Publix would feel the same if they were in that situation.

This man should have been given a huge bonus if, for nothing else, his customers feel safe shopping in this store. Nevrmind that it was an heroic effort on his part!

While there are rules and protocols to follow there is also common sense. Management at Publix needs to realize that everything action is not so cut and dry and each situation should be looked at individually. While you could reiterate that the manager could have been hurt by going as far as he did you could also commend him for helping a customer in YOUR store. This could be turned around in Publix favor and show that you care about your customers. Very sad now a day that it's all about the money with you. People should boycott Publix until this is resolved in the manner of what the people want and that is honoring this hero your manager for not being selfish and putting customers first. Shame on you Publix for not doing just that.

You should be ashamed of yourselves for disciplining a man for doing the right thing. If this is the way you are going treat a hero, then I will do my shopping somewhere else. I bet if that was your wife's purse you would have given him a promotion or bonus. Think about that for a minute.

Publix needs to stand up for what is right regardless of policies. This is America. We need to honor actions of a hero, not discipline them.
