I'm all for it! I hope it happens. I know many female devotees that are better off to guide someone on their spiritual path than a lot of men I see around. Pretty no brainer to me...

Hoping that a progressive approved plan will happen for women to offer diksa with few restrictions. That would be equitable and is needed in order to spiritually flourish. Hare Krishna.

I agree they women should be able to give diksha, but also agree "not so many" - it is a huseful responsibility and should not be undertaken lightly..... Hare krishna

My only hesitation about signing this petition remains that nagging feeling of discomfort the rubber-stamp guru thing gives me these days... At this point in my spiritual life, I would really like to see the whole diksha relationship truly transcend the bureaucracy, and become more similar to the spontaneity and purity of siksha... In any case, all hail the shedding of the bodily concept!

If the devotee shows devotional qualities and is qualified they should be able to be a guru, man or woman. Same as women can do puja if they are braminical.

If they will follow the same statements for the male gurus, I don't see any problem. And I'm sure that many female devotees are much prepared and genuine followers of Srila Prabhupada than many male gurus are or have ever been!

The GBC should not be in the business of rubber stamping gurus. The decision to choose a guru is between the disciple and the guru. Shrila Prabhupada never told the GBC to do this. This is overstepping their management duties. Any devotee in good standing should be allowed to give initiation.
This was the recommendation of their own Shastra Advisory Committee.
The GBC knows the real power in ISKCON is with the gurus and GBC and are trying to control it.
