A SIMPLE reply to the silly idea that Vaisnavi Diksha Gurus are a Modern Western Feminist concoction. In fact they are a part of the authentic Gaudiya Sampradaya tradition. What is NEW since 1978 is male mlecca-born diksha gurus. And the sastric quotes denying them the right to be diksha gurus are exactly the same silly quotes presented by the Anti-VDG malcontents in ISKCON. Here is the diksha parampara of Bhaktivinoda Thakura: 1. Jahnava Thakurani (female) 2. Ramachandra Goswami (male) 3. Rajaballabha Goswami (male) 4. Keshavachandra Goswami (male) 5. Rudresvara Goswami (male) 6. Dayarama Goswami (male) 7. Mahesvari Goswamini (female) 8. Guna Manjari Goswamini (female) 9. Ramamani Goswamini (female) 10. Jogesvara Goswami (male) 11. Vipina Bihari Goswami (male) 12. Bhaktivinoda Thakura (male) Four out of his 11 spiritual diksha ancestor gurus were women. When this is pointed out of Anti-VDG malcontents they say that the diksha mantras he received from that parampara are dead mantras as women can’t transmit mantras. LOL! I actually had a long email debate with the Anti-VDGs in which the subject line written by them was “Bhaktivinodas diksha mantras are dead mantras” LOL! What an aparadha! If someone answers that they do not accept this parampara but only the siksha parampara, it has to be pointed out that the issue here is not siksha but giving diksha mantras. Everyone accepts women can be siksha gurus. The objection is for them being diksha mantra gurus. Above it is seen clearly that Bhaktivinoda didn’t see any problem with it, he accepted it. And this parampara is not the only Gaudiya parampara which includes VDGs. There are many. Because since the early 16th century right at the beginning of Gaudiya Sampradaya VDGs have been accepted. Whereas mlecca born male Gaudiya Vaisnava diksha gurus is actually the new thing which we have seen ONLY since 1978.

If a devotee is qualified spiritually, they should be able to accept disciples irrespective of their gender.

Hare Krishna. I believe already many vaishnavis live as disguised sannyasinis, especially in this age, when men are so degraded. So if she wants in any age and is able to she could become a sannyasini and Guru. We can see few sannyasinis and Gurus in Mathura and Vrindavan. They attract so many people, even huge crowds, with their preaching. Spiritual soul does not have a gender. And in many cases nowadays women are much more pure in their hearts and more intelligent according to Srila Prabhupada. It would be better if high standard and spiritually pure Gurus decide her ability and spirituality, not just local authorities, who in many cases are less advanced or younger. So out of immaturity, jelousness and revenge they might not agree. Let her herself choose whom she trusts. I do not support those souls in men body who discriminate and use their power on women. It is not Vedic, not spiritual. Gopis were best devotees of the Lord. I am happy that finally our movement is progressing spiritually to rise this issue. I hope one day it will come.

Hare Krsna! Please accept my humble obeisances. We are not these bodies. If a human being is qualifies to be a diksa guru, then he or she is qualified!

Through Vaishnav history there have been many female Diksa Gurus. Bhaktivinod Thakurs Param Guru was a woman. I hope that GBC can study Vsishnsv history and our sastras AND start to follow them.

There are so many examples of female gurus in our sampradaya! There is nothing to discuss! Qualified Vaishnavis have to become gurus.
