If Srila Prabhupada said it, then it's the right thing to do. But of course, all precautions (if they exist) have to be included. Personally I don't know of any, but I'm not as close to the real issues of ISKCON like the GBC's are.

I believe a guru, regardless of gender must rise on his / her own based on one's shatric knowledge, austerity, purity and above all the practices that he or she could take the disciples to the lord through Srila Prabhupada's guidence. A guru also must sit an exam " Bhakti Vedanta Scholarship Exam" first then the congregation must observe the behaviour and their confidence and love must be the deciding factor. I also think money should not be the deciding factor in rise of fame. All existing gurus please take the above test and prove to us you are worthy of worship.

We are meant to uphold the eternal principles of bhakti which are not based on the body but on qualification. We are not meant to uphold popular Hindu dharma but sanantam dharma.
