I would have loved a program in school that taught me such a useful language! Learning Chinese at a young age will cultivate an appreciation of a language and culture very different than their own, while also helping children in future careers as the Chinese market continues to expand.

As a Chinese speaker whose career and personal life have both been incredibly affected by my ability to speak in one of the most used languages in the world, I can attest to the value of Chinese language education. Starting such education at an early age can make a monumental difference in the level of ability attained, and having VAIS is a huge asset to the Madison area.

Although I have no children myself, from personal experience with dabbling in learning Mandarin, I absolutely believe in the power of learning another language/culture does wonders for a child's education, confidence, and future. Please keep this program!

My husband and I are former teachers and public school supporters. Please acknowledge this gem of a program--a free, public 50/50 Mandarin immersion school open to everyone in the Verona Area School District--and renew the charter with a 7-0 vote of confidence in the school, director, teachers, and students.
